The Choir of St Martin of Tours

We are an eight-part choir that sings regularly at Parish Communion, Choral Mattins and Choral Evensong. We make occasional visits to sing services at other churches and have made several recordings. Our chancel is an appealing place to sing, being designed by Charles Nicholson, the architect older brother of Sydney Nicholson, who founded the RSCM. Practices are on Friday evenings.

The Director of Music is Alyson Aronson. Musicians that have worked in the church include, long term, Felton Rapley, arranger for Chappells in the 1960s, Charles Waters, organist and composer, Ray Humble, organist with a gift for accompaniment, and, on occasions in the 1940s, Ralph Vaughan Williams.  The present organist is Iain MacFarlane.

If you are interested in joining, please come to a service and then speak to the Director of Music afterwards. Trebles begin at age 7 (or younger in special cases, at the Director's discretion). Adults with some idea of reading music are welcome too. Unusually for a choir of this size, we can call on six tenors and eight basses but are very short of alto singers. Offers to join will be received with joy, especially from higher voices.

Some members of the choir also sing with Epsom Chamber Choir and Epsom Choral Society.

St Martin's follows the Diocese of Guildford's child protection guidelines.
