Contemplative Prayer 2016

Meets: 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11 am and on the 4th Thursday at 8 pm in St Martin's

The aim of the Group is to teach and to practise 'listening prayer'. The method used is that set out by the Fellowship of Contemplative Prayer. The meetings are almost always in the Church itself. Anyone who would like an hour or so of led meditation or contemplation and silence based on one of the sayings of God from the Old Testament or one of Jesus in the New Testament is very welcome.

Tuesday, 11th July, at 11 am and Thursday, 27th July, at 8 pm in St Martin's.  Our starting point this month  is the short 'saying' from the 1st Chapter in St John's Gospel 'Come and see'.  Jesus is asked by 2 disciples where he is staying - instead of giving them directions, he invited them to come with him.  We all know what it is like when someone actually shows us the way.  Here is our staring point for our contemplation together.   In the morning we end with 'Prayer During the Day' and in the evening with 'Compline'.  Do come and join us - you will be very welcome for an hour or so of led meditation.

It is hoped to plan a Quiet Day in preparation for Advent in the week beginning November 27th
