Contemplative Prayer 2016

Meets: 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11 am and on the 4th Thursday at 8 pm in St Martin's


The aim of the Group is to teach and to practise 'listening prayer'. The method used is that set out by the Fellowship of Contemplative Prayer. The meetings are almost always in the Church itself. Anyone who would like an hour or so of led meditation or contemplation and silence based on one of the sayings of God from the Old Testament or one of Jesus in the New Testament is very welcome.  



Tuesday February 13th at 11 am and Thursday February 22nd at 8 pm

A good saying from the Old Testament to take us into the beginning of Lent will be that chosen for this month: Joel 2.12: 'Even now ... return to me with all your heart.'


Tuesday March 13th at 11 am and Thursday March 22nd at 8 pm

John 12.23: The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.'  The whole narrative of St John's Gospel has been leading up to this point.  We are following Jesus, just as his first disciples did - at least at first ...
