Having started in 2015, Ark is now in its third year at St Martin's and is going from strength to strength. We have a core group of between 6-12 children, ranging from our Fishes who are under 2, to our Elephants who are school years 3-6, with Butterflies (pre-schoolers) and Kangeroos (school years R-2) in the middle! Sometimes we do activites in our groups, but often we like to be together as a big 'Ark' group.
Mini church is in the glass room at the rear of the church under the bell tower, where parents can take any under-2's if they wish. The room is most suited to young babies, but can also accommodate toddlers - although toddlers are also welcome to join our Ark sessions where they can run around and join in making lots of noise!
Mini church is equipped with matting, toys, baby chaging and a toilet. There is an audio feed of the service so parents can still join in with the worship.
A typical Ark session consists of a bible story, a song, a game, and fun craft activites - all accompanied by the very important drink and biscuit! We leave the church service after the first hymn and return for Communion, and then show what we have done to 'big' church, either through our craft, or reading out prayers or singing our favourite songs.
We love to make new friends, so if you are coming to church for the first time, or just haven't been to Ark before, we'd be very happy to meet you and include you in our party of living, learning, laughing and loving the Lord.
If you're around during the week, don't forget that there is the St Martin's Mother and Toddler Group in church house on Thursday mornings.
