Join Our Choir
Learning to sing in a choir is an enjoyable, sociable activity. You’ll take part in fantastic festivals including Nine Lessons and Carols and beautiful services throughout Holy Week. For children, singing in a choir offers an array of life skills such as learning to work as a team.
Additionally, the children in St Martin’s choir receive training in choral singing and music theory as they progress. We follow the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Voice for Life training scheme. The short auditions for children are informal and usually include nothing more challenging than singing the national anthem. It is important for parents to remember that we are looking for potential rather than the finished article. Whilst we do not audition adult members, we ask that they are able to read music and have a basic level of sight-reading.
Please contact our Director of Music – Stephen Hope – who is always pleased to hear from prospective choir members.

These recitals are very popular and the standard is always very high, with most performers having trained at the UK’s top conservatoires. Most importantly, we believe that everyone should be able to enjoy good music so the whole family are welcome and our events are always free entry!
